Playmates shows off new Ben 10 reboot toys at Toy Fair!

Some time ago, Playmates has announced that they will be the new toy distributors for the Ben 10 reboot. At the New York Toyfair. They have quite the line up for the Ben 10 toys in 2017, with two waves confirmed to be released by the end of the year. Check out some images below!
First off we have the basic figures for all ten (well technically nine...) of Ben's aliens. Each one will come with a special accessory that corresponds with their abilities, which means there won't be any gimmick minifigure to be used with an Omnitrix toy like Bandai of America did with their toyline. Playmates had also added translucent parts to some of the aliens, like Diamondhead's skin, Heatblast's flames and Stinkfly's wings.

They broke the Bandai tradition of giving Ben a hoverboard as an accessory, instead, they gave Ben a Grey Matter minigure, as he is the smallest alien in the series. Another plus for Playmates is that they make full use of the characters' designs to give them articulation, unlike Bandai which would give a character about five points of articulation. But a flaw that is common with Playmates is that their figures don't have the best paint jobs. Some are miscolored, others are messy and some are not even there, like on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2012 toys.

They also showed off three basic villain figures, them being Hex, Steam Smythe and Dr. Animo. Hex comes with the Stage of Ages, Steam Smythe comes with a drill and Dr. Animo comes with a Goatdactyl  minifigure instead of a mutation gun.

They also showed off two playsets, the Rustbucket, which is going to be released this year, and an Alien Home Planet playset which is planned to be released in 2018.  The Rustbucket is capable of rolling around and you can put the basic figures in the front seats, but its primary feature is to transform into a giant headquarters (about two foot tall) for the basic figures to be displayed and played in. In the middle of the HQ there's an alien mutation chamber, where you can place Ben on one side and an alien on the other side and then spin the Omnitrix symbol on top to make it seem like Ben is transforming into an alien. It also comes with an escalator, a ladder, a gun and a look out on top.
The second playset features a giant headquarters that contains two alien worlds on each side. One one side there's Four Arms and Heatblast's home planets and on the other side there's Diamondhead and Stinkfly's. There's three floors and one elevator in the middle. There also seems to be some sort of flamey slide that comes with Heatblast's planet.

Then there's their deluxe Omnitrix, which is the most accurate Omnitri toy we've gotten in a long time, despite its ugly and boxy appearance, it works just like it does in the show. Press the button on the front to make the core pop out, turn the dial till you find the alien you like and then slam it down to hear the alien's voice and phrases. You can press the small green button on the left to hear different phrases. After a minute, it will beep and glow red before turning back to its default mode. It is unknown if the user can make it transform back manually. Even the hourglass changes shape depending on the mode, even though its miscolored.
They also showed off giant sized figures that mainly focuses on articulation. The first three aliens in the wave is going to be Heatblast, Diamondhead and Four Arms, the most "popular" aliens according to them. They also had gimmick figures for the same three aliens that has a button on their backs. If the user presses it long enough, they can activate the aliens' special move. The feature is that they are translucent to show off their lighting up capabilities, starting from the head then moving to the arms before flashing on and off and shouting their special moves.

Lastly, they showed off two role playing sets, one for Heatblast and one for Diamondhead. They feature a mask and an arm with a gimmick on it based on the alien's ability. Like Heatblast's arm is capable of shooting a fireball, while Diamondhead will push out three diamond spikes, similar to Wolverine from Marvel. These arm roleplay toys are similar to the ones Bandai made for Ben 10: Ultimate Alien for some Ultimates, like Ultimate Echo Echo and Ultimate Humungousaur.

The Ben 10 reboot toys are expected to be available by Fall 2017.
