Like an armadillo or a pill-bug, Cannonbolt is able to curl himself into a ball, keeping his arms, legs and face inside and only revealing his yellow plate armor on his back outside. In this form he is able to quickly roll and bounce around, slamming into his enemies as his main form of offense.
One might wonder how does Cannonbolt know where he's going and not accidentally bump into his allies while in ball form.
Well Duncan Rouleau, who is part of Man of Action, the creators of the original Ben 10 series and currently working on the reboot, answered this question.
Apparently, Cannonbolt has short hairs on his body similar to humans. These hairs are similar to a cat's whiskers and can sense motion and shifts in the air. While not confirmed, it's possible that these hairs are located on Cannonbolt's black lining around his armor, as these lines are exposed outside while he is in ball form. Cannonbolt also has enhanced hearing. With these two senses together, Cannonbolt has something similar to echolation that gives him eyeless vision, allowing Cannonbolt to "see" around him while rolling around in ball form.
Today is the 15th anniversary since the premiere of the first Ben 10 episode And Then There Were 10. It doesn't seem like Cartoon Network has anything in store for the occasion, but as a fandom we should do our best to celebrate Ben 10's big day! Happy Anniversary!
Merry Christmas! Tom Perkins, one of the character designers who worked on Ben 10, has gifted us two new aliens, and they are themed for the holidays! Say hello to Kringl the Summoner and Jak the Freeze.
Kringl the Summoner |
First up we have Kringl the Summoner, a Santa Claus-like alien that is able to summon elf-like beings.
Next we have Jak the Freeze, a blue elf-like alien that is able to freeze time.
Happy holidays!
Derrick J. Wyatt has finished his design for Ventrilosquid, an alien only mentioned on social media by Ben 10: Omniverse writer Matt Wayne. Derrick designed Ventrilosquid as part of a GoFundMe, with Ventrilosquid being the $4,000 tier goal.
Ventrilosquid is a white octopus-like alien with gills on the side of his head and an eye on each tentacle, making it look like sock puppets. He has a reddish brown hair and a large tooth sticking out of his mouth. Something of note is that Ventrilosqid has two green connectors on his Omnitrix that resembles Toepick's.Tom Perkins, a character design on the original Ben 10, has unveiled another alien he has made. This time it's Warp.
Warp |
Warp is a snake-like beige alien that wears a black and white jump suit. He has dagger like hands as well as four round yellow eyes. He has snake-like hair and a white mask-like face. He wears the Omnitrix on his stomach.
Warp is able to open portals that allows him to travel to different places, and even through time.
Warp is a re-used character model from one of the aliens Max and Phil fought in a flashback in the Ben 10 episode Truth.
Warp is one of the many Ben 10,000 aliens that Tom Perkins has designed in November. Others includes Snakepit, Sandbox, Shellhead, Funguy, Terrorsaur, Braindrain, Hippopotomass, Gurge and Transmutor.
Tom Perkins has unveiled another new Ben 10,000 alien. This time it's Transmutor.
Transmutor |
Transmutor is an orange alien that wears a black and white jumpsuit. He has a long tail and a clam-like head with two red eyes on either side as well as a pupil. He has multiple orange tongues coming out of his mouth and wears the Omnitrix on his right shoulder.
Transmutor has elemental conversion powers and is able to transmutate materials.
This alien is a re-used model from a background alien in the original series episode Truth, shown during the flashback with Max and Phil fighting various aliens.
Thornblade is Kevin Levin's Antitrix equivalent to Wildvine. He is voiced by Greg Cipes and first appeared in the season 3 episode King of the Castle.
Thornblade in Roundabout: Part 2 |
Thornblade is a large plant-like humanoid alien. He has two thorny vines connected to his back and has an orange leaf around his neck. He has orange limbs and a leaf-shaped torso. His body is olive green, brownish green and orange in color, similar to an old plant. He has root-like black feet and four sharp fingers. He has one large red eye and four orange vines on the sides of his face. He has four orange leaves underneath them and one orange sprout on the top of his head. He wears the Antitrix on his chest.
Tom Perkins has unveiled yet another alien on his Twitter. This time it's Gurge, an alien exclusive to Ben 10,000. Gurge's design is actually based on a background alien prison inmate in Ben 10: Secret of the Omnitrix.
Gurge |
Gurge is a scary, four legged green alien with tentacles as arms. He has multiple orange eyes that around his head and a large nose as well as sharp teeth. He wears a black jumpsuit with a white udnerbelly. He has two gills near his stomach and wears the Omnitrix on his stomach. Gurge is able to induce nausea onto his foes, making them feel like throwing up.
The alien Gurge was based on |
The alien Gurge was based on was also designed by Tom Perkins. He was seen in Incarcecon. What do you think of Gurge?
Gurge is one of the many original aliens Gurge has designed, following Funguy, Terrorsaur, Braindrain, Bungee Sponge and Hippopotamass.
Bootleg in Franken-Fight |
Bootleg is has a tall, slim body and has blue circuitry along his entire body. He has circular orbs that potrude from his shoulders, legs, hands and hips. He has two large black spikey balls that is connected to his back. He has a single red eye and a blue circle on his stomach as well as large blue shoulder pads. Bootleg wears the Antitrix on his chest.
Tom Perkins has designed another new alien. This time it's Hippopotamass, or as he spelt it, Hippopotomass. This is one of the many joke aliens Matt Wayne came up with during Ben 10: Omniverse's run.
Hippopotamass |
Hippopotamass is a blue hippo-like alien that is able to change density of himself or objects near him using yellow energy that he projects from his arms. He has three eyes, with one of them on his forehead, which glows yellow when he uses his powers. He wears the Omnitrix on his neckbrace.
Tom Perkins also made a second version of Hippopotamass.
Second design for HIppopotamass |
Hippopotomass isn't the first joke alien that was given a design by Tom Perkins. The character designer previously designed Bungee Gum, who you can view here.
Tom Perkins just keeps on giving. This time he shows off designs for Braindrain and Bungee Sponge. Bungee Sponge is one of the many joke aliens Matt Wayne came up with during Ben 10: Omniverse, while Braindrain is an Ormerowon, a zombie species that's been mentioned in the original series. Check them out below.
Braindrain |
Braindrain is zombie alien from the planet Anur Ormerow in the Anur System. His species was mentioned in Ben 10: Secret of the Omnitrix at the end of the movie. Braindrain is only accessible to Ben 10,000 and he is able to drain the life-force from enemies and temporarily turn them into zombified minions. We can see green electricity coming out of his body, presumably life-energy.
Bungee Sponge |
During Ben 10: Omniverse run, Matt Wayne joked about an alien named Bungee Sponge that Ben unlocked when he was 11 years old as an example of underpowered aliens that he moved on from. Tom Perkins' take on Bungee Sponge gave him two very long arms on his back, presumably to allow him to bungee jump off high places. He would be accessible by Ben 10,000.
What do you think of Braindrain and Bungee Sponge?
Tom Perkins, a character designer who worked on the original Ben 10, has posted two new Ben 10,000 aliens on his Twitter, along with their powers. These future aliens are non-canon to Ben 10. Check them out below.
Funguy |
First up we have Funguy. Funguy is able to generate and release laughing gas from the pores on his arms. Funguy is not a Living Mushroo, but he is from the planet Flors Verdance, the same planet Wildvine's species, Floraunas, Tom Perkins would pick Greg Cipes to voice him.
Terrorsaur |
Next we have Terrorsaur. This pterodactyl-like alien is capable of flight and is able to induce psychic hallucinations into his opponents. Terrorsaur wears the Omnitrix on his chest.
Tom Perkins has also recently designed his version of Sandbox, Snakepit and Shellhead. Which you can see here. What do you think of these two new Ben 10,000 aliens?
Sandbox, Snakepit, Shellhead, Toepick and Atomix were aliens that were mentioned in the original series episode Ken 10. Out of these five, Toepick and Atomix would appear in Ben 10: Omniverse. However, Sandbox, Snakepit and Shellhead would only remain as mentioned aliens that are in Ken Tennyson's Omnitrix. Tom Perkins, one of the designers from the original series, went on Twitter and showed off his illustrations of how he would had designed Sandbox, Snakepit and Shellhead if they had appeared in the original Ben 10, along with their powers. Check them out below.
Snakepit |
The first future Ben 10 alien that Thomas Perkins posted was Snakepit. A lot of fans speculated that he could be a member of Ssserpent's species, but it isn't so. Snakepit has three snake heads coming out of a broken egg-like torso with three-fingered arms and two-toed legs. Snakepit is able to shoot lightning-like yellow lasers from his eyes that will temporarily petrify opponents, similar to Medusa turning people to stone. He wore the Omnitrix on his chest.
Derrick J. Wyatt, who worked on Ben 10: Omniverse as the art director, showed his first concept sketch for Ventrilosquid. An alien that was mentioned by Matt Wayne on his forums a couple times. The alien never made a physical appearance and is described as having some sort of telekinesis and ventriloquism. Check out the image below.
Ventrilosquid |
So far, he looks like a squid with hair and gills. His tentacles resemble sock puppets and the Omnitrix is on his "chest" with two nodes sticking out of it, similar to Toepick's. It is unknown what his color scheme will be.
Derrick is drawing Ventrilosquid as the $4,000 tier goal on his GoFundMe, which successfully reached its goal of $5,000 to get an Omniverse-styled Fasttrack.
The tenth of October, 2020 has marked the premiere of Ben 10 Versus the Universe: The Movie worldwide. I hope you enjoy watching it! Try to avoid spoilers if you can!
